NVC invests approximately 3% of the value of it’s annual payroll into education for employees across the organisation. The Quality & Education Coordinator sources government funding that subsidises some training outlays. Much of this training provides staff opportunities to continue their professional development and career progression through courses such as: the Certificate III in Hospitality; Certificate IV in Frontline Management; Diploma in Management; Certificate IV in Aged Care; Enrolled Nursing; and, Registered Nursing.
The organisation has an extensive in-house education program covering all mandatory elements (i.e. The Prevention of Elder Abuse, Bullying & Harassment, Fire & Evacuation and Manual Handling) as well as non-mandatory training (for example pharmacy education and Aged Care Channel). Many of the mandatory elements are now completed via NVC’s e-Learning modules that provide a more flexible training arrangement for staff.
As part of future development and with continuous improvement at the forefront of our philosophy, Nambucca Valley Care prides itself on assisting staff with any opportunities that arise from time to time in regard to scholarships. These scholarships would include conferences, many short courses, graduate certificates and degrees.
Funding opportunities are fully utilised when and if they become available to upskill present staff, or alternatively to fund joint projects for all facilities.
Staff at NVC wishing to take advantage of any future opportunities are advised to make it known to their manager.
